England-born and Sydney-raised and now resident in Hawkes Bay John Lancashire is a self taught still life painter as well as an accomplished hairdresser who runs Pearl Salon with his partner in Napier. Images of cut flowers in vessels are rendered with loose, gestural brush strokes in contrasting warm and cool colours. Lancashire has built a loyal and ever growing collector base for his distinctive style, painterly approach and often sentimental and romantic compositions
