Cristina Popovici

Cristina Popovici is a renowned abstract expressionist multidisciplinary artist with a foundation in classical Fine Arts. Her practice stems from traditional European artistic principles which has evolved into contemporary abstract expressionism.

Throughout her prolific career, Cristina has experimented with diverse supports—including canvas, Perspex, PVC, fiberglass, and metal stencils—and a wide array of materials such as industrial paints, glass paints, inks, plaster, acrylics, spray paints, and oils. These tools serve as her vocabulary, allowing her to explore and develop unique techniques that reflect her evolving artistic language.

Popovici believes that there is no separation between body, mind and spirit, in the sense that the body is like a vessel for energy to express itself.  Her artworks become a physical manifestation of the internal from rapid, impulsive brushstrokes to slow, pouring motions. Her work captures motion as an expression of energy, either disrupting flow to generate intensity or allowing paint to settle into calming rhythms, embodying a balance between intensity and serenity.

Popovici resides in Melbourne Australia and exhibits in art fairs and galleries across Australasia.
