Dita Angeles

Bio

dita angeles

Dita Angeles has maintained an art practice for 22 years and studied at Whitecliffe college of art and design and has a strong background in portraiture. Social presentation, perception, and persuasion are the dominant themes which run throughout Angeles' works, paying close attention to behaviour, ego, identity, and anonymity. Inspired by existential philosophies, with reference to 20th century aesthetics, her paintings depict social issues and personal moments which incorporate the spectacle of contemporary media and culture.

Angeles has works in public and private collections in Aotearoa and abroad and has received many awards both in Aotearoa and Internationally including finalist in the 2024 Adam Portraiture Award and highly commended in the Stuff Art Aotearoa Art Award.
