Over the years Freeman has enjoyed a number of sell-out shows for his distinctive landscape paintings and is regarded as one of New Zealand’s top (living) landscape artists, known particularly for his painting of the Hawkes Bay area.
Freeman was voted “Wellington’s Top Artist” in the Wellington Capital Times Best of 2010 poll the artist has had many sell-out solo shows in New Zealand, as well as many group shows. White has also been the recipient of a number of awards including the Norseware art awards, ADAM Portrait Awards, and the Hawkes Bay Invitational. His work features in a number of public, private and corporate collections across Europe, USA, UAE, and Australasia.

Freeman White was commissioned by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi to paint portraits of the cast to feature in the 2014 NZ film.
The original portraits of Viago 3/4 and Vladislav 3/4 are held in the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Collection.
