Jessica Gurnsey is an accomplished and recognised emerging painter from Pōneke.

At age seventeen Gurnsey was recognised for her unique talent in portraiture being the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious ADAM portraiture award in 2022. The following year Jessica had her first solo exhibition ‘People Watching’ at just eighteen years old. Jessica has continued to exhibit regularly alongside Aotearoa’s most renowned artists.

Gurnsey takes inspiration from spontaneous interactions in public and moments with her friends.  Her subjects  have magnetic energy that is informed by rich and detailed backgrounds.
