Lucy Eglington

Lucy Eglington is a New Zealand-based oil painter whose highly detailed, hyperreal and surreal compositions draw on Renaissance painting and early naturalist traditions. Through the use of animals and figures placed in unexpected settings, she explores the complexities of human nature, revealing themes of memory, vulnerability, resilience and the inner worlds we carry within us.

Eglington creates images that reveal themselves gradually, inviting contemplation of tenderness, vigilance, transformation and the stories we tell ourselves.

Eglington has established a strong following among collectors, with works held in private and public collections throughout Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally, including the prestigious The Wallace Arts Trust collection. With a history of sold-out exhibitions and recognition through significant art awards, her work continues to resonate with audiences both locally and abroad.
