Freeman White’s latest exhibition allows significant insight into the creative process of the award winning artist.
This exhibition invites the viewer to experience the evolution of Freeman’s artistic approach, highlighting the techniques employed and connections felt both to the traditions of Plein Air painting and the land and sea of Aotearoa.
Freeman utilises the technique of Plein Air, the act of painting outdoors, and subsequently Alla Prima, wet-on-wet painting, allowing a spontaneous yet knowledgeable command over this collection of smaller scale compositions.
"Some of my favourite paintings are those where ideas are worked out in real time, straight into the wet paint. There is something magical about a small painting that is not overworked, allowing the viewer an insight into the artist's creative mind."
