“I am a huge fan of museums and spent my childhood in them. I loved the drawers of insects in particular. This oar is Based on the Auckland war memorial museum, and was commissioned by the museum.
It was painted to celebrate the collection the building holds. Not only the collection in draws and displays, but the building's beautiful architectural detailing. The wallpaper-like silhouettes of the objects are like symbols, stamped into the oar for a timeless memory of the importance and sometimes controversial collections these buildings hold.” Leanne Culy 2026
