Adrenaline Junkie
KEN KELLER / Anchorball (USA)
Adrenaline Junkie, 2025
Adrenaline Junkie is a hyper-saturated explosion of chaos and delight, a psychedelic carnival where innocence collides with menace. At the centre, a monumental skull grins with cartoonish glee, its hollow sockets filled with kaleidoscopic madness. Surrounding it is a fever dream of pop-culture detritus: grinning characters, blue bunny-suited figures with X’d-out eyes, rainbow rivers melting into toxic sludge, and surreal creatures that teeter between playful and grotesque. A sleek yellow sports car speeds through the mayhem, while monstrous faces, castles, and burning skulls stack like an impossible cityscape.
The composition is dense and unrelenting, every inch vibrating with motion and attitude. The colour palette—acidic neons, candy brights, and inky blacks—amplifies the rush, making the viewer feel trapped inside the brain of someone addicted to spectacle, speed, and sensation. Beneath the humour and pop iconography is a darker undercurrent: the lure of danger, death, and destruction lurking under the shiny surface.
Adrenaline Junkie is both a celebration and critique of contemporary culture—where fantasy, consumerism, and chaos intertwine in a dizzying, irresistible overdose.
