Cat Hiding Death Inside
MIKE EGAN (USA)
Cat Hiding Death Inside, 2025
I've been obsessed with the idea of hiding from the world and themes of security this year. These two paintings reflect the idea of what's inside of us, fear, anxiety, strength and courage. How does the idea of death and dying resonate in your life? Does it push you to live a life that you enjoy or does it make you crumble in fear and stop you from enjoying life?

Mike Egan Bio
Fine artist Mike Egan was born outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He took to art at a
young age often tracing album art and the artwork that he saw in skateboard
magazines. Mike went on to study fine art at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania
where he focused on printmaking. After finishing school he found himself without
the tools he needed to continue printmaking, so Mike took up painting.
With no direction in the art world he knew that he needed a job that would help his
journey until he figured out the art world. So Mike made the decision to enroll at the Pittsburgh Institute Of Mortuary Science to become a funeral director and embalmer. Over the next five years Mike would work in funeral homes all while continuing his craft. In 2006 he would be in his first gallery show as an artist. It didn't take long for his work to spread to the west coast, back to the east coast and overseas. Mike continues to tell his stories of life, death and everything in between in the form of paintings and shows his work worldwide.
